Sensory processing difficulties affect not only how children move and learn, but also how they play and interact with friends and especially how they view themselves. Tabi Friends comes in a range of collectable characters for the child to feel engaged with and comfortable to use when their sensory processing issues occur in public. The product comprises of three main parts: A character appearing like a typical toy so as not to draw attention while in use, with a squeezable body to achieve deep pressure when feeling distressed, thus relieving anxiety. A weighted base to achieve pressure with ease and to encourage the child to move their arms (known as proprioception) while holding the toy, resulting in increased alertness and focus. Finally, a textured base cover for tactile relief to create a feeling of calmness.
