It is predicted that by 2050 the ocean will contain more plastic by weight than fish. Teaching children to upcycle from a young age can expose them to environmental issues of global relevance whilst encouraging their learning of the world around them and exploration of creative solutions. The act of story book sharing where parents read to their children, promotes the development of language and literacy abilities that will positively affect their academic success.
The story book combines these key issues as the reader is encouraged to think creatively and follow Jude on her upcycling journey as she makes discarded items into something useful. The aim is to inspire parents, teachers and children to get imaginative with how they regard their waste and the planet, whilst educating children on the benefits of upcycling and provoking sustainable change for future generations.
