1 in 6 people in the UK are affected by mental health problems, often caused by, or accelerated from within the workplace. Many businesses, particularly young companies and start-ups do not have the resources or budgets to invest in solutions and services which offer appropriate support for employees experiencing difficulties. This ultimately results in companies experiencing great financial losses and increased pressures as employees can become unable to work.
Second aid is a play on the idea of a first-aid kit, which are mandatory inside the walls of an office or workplace. Continuous research with a young company throughout the project duration lead to the design directions of the style, language and product artefacts which were discovered to be helpful to employees when looking out for themselves and their team.
