This project involved extensive research of a chronic national problem: knife crime. On the rise since 2014, it is currently at its highest since comparable records began. Largely caused by severe cuts to the UK police force as well as significant reductions to youth services, this problem is a double-edged sword with young men making up the majority of both victims and suspects. Carapeis offers those in high-risk professions in the private sector an opportunity to utilise their training due to their personal, customised protection experience. The armour uses a lightweight, breathable vest with strategic attachment points for specially designed armour pads. The vest is given structure by the Kevlar straps, while the pads are made from stab-proof UHMWPE and D3O foam for improved impact resistance.
