Encouraging men to have a key role during pregnancy and after birth not only supports mothers but also improves a child’s development outcomes. Improvements in the wellbeing of UK families through the social support fathers can provide could reap significant economic benefits to society - to the tune of £16.2 billion.
The strength of the project was the identification of a huge gap in current policies and products in the ‘Mother and Baby’ market to effectively support men to be involved as they become a Dad. A guided journal uses positive psychological interventions to improve the father’s mental wellbeing and empowers them in the development of a bond with their child using storytelling. An app allows the father to record stories which can be played to the child even when the father is away.
