A wall mounted sun-cream dispenser for sunny public venues such as beaches & parks. The dispenser uses an IR sensor to detect user’s hands and dispenses individual portions of sun cream, without the user requiring physical contact with the dispenser. The dispenser uses a UV sensor to measure the intensity of the sun’s UV rays, and when they reach a threshold, a warning light displays informing users the sun is very intense and that they should apply sun-cream. The sun-cream cartridges are easily replaceable, with buttons to control the dispensing carriage. Internal limit switches prevent the dispenser from over dispensing when empty. The dispenser is made from an acrylic housing, with a robust linear actuator for driving the dispense mechanism. The control board is a custom milled 2-sided circuit board and utilises the PIC-16F819 microcontroller.
