STEMideas is a STEM activity, where children are taken into their local woodlands by designers and taught about the environment and design process. Together, they co-design an area for their community, which is constructed by professionals, that will help them play whilst in woodlands.
Not only will this build a community space via a public recreation area, but will include both physical and mental health benefits from all the service’s activities.
The system becomes circular, as the non-invasive construction of natural materials can be dismantled allowing the area to return to its original state. Children will gain a “sense of ownership” for their creation and thus respect for the natural world, leading to further benefit to the environment.
Both the creative educational activities and resultant physical play area will allow this service to provide for a range of families.
