Managing woodlands is essential to maintain and enhance its biodiversity. Woodland management includes the removal of trees to allow other trees to grow. This process generates thinnings. Currently, hardwood thinnings are on the rise and they are almost exclusively used as fuel.
Keith is a portable woodland guide for visitors of all ages. He is made from hardwood thinnings and produced in
the woodland. As you walk through the woodland, Keith will interact with you and will tell you about woodland management. He will explain why certain processes are needed to keep the woodland viable, such as the process of thinnings. Profits generated by Keith are reinvested back into the woodland.
Keith aims to educate, involve and inspire the local community and the visitors about the management of ‘their’ woodland in a fun way and so create a healthy woodland.
