A minimal selection of prosthesis’ are available to children, especially ones that would allow for the movement surfing requires. Wave Warrior’s ankle comprises two polyurethane rubber bushings that surround the leg post. The hardness of the rubber depends on the user’s weight and allows for the leg post to flex multi-directionally. The system can be easily disassembled and modified; when the child grows, they can swap for a stiffer rubber bushing. An adjustable leg post can also be easily replaced for a longer post. For increased grip, there are rubber sleeves on the toe and heel of a carbon fibre foot, curved edges for a larger surface area and more contact with the board when the foot is at an angle, and a split-toe recess creates a suction grip, inspired by the hooves of mountain goats.
