Immersive technologies such as Augmented and Virtual Reality are impacting more and more businesses and people across a broad variety of disciplines. In the audio- visual industry, immersive technologies have proved to be a valuable tool during the Virtual Production (VP) process.
Movies that involve the use of Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) such as “Ready Player One” or “The Lion King” rely on the adoption of VP because among its many benefits, it allows directors and the film crew to visualize and capture places and scenes that do not exist or which would require an incredible amount of resources.
The concept behind VP is the real-time data exchange between the physical and virtual world with use of a real-time engine such as Unity or Unreal. As immersive technologies keep advancing and maturing at a fast pace, this research aims to exploit the commercial and creative opportunities that are being presented.
