The Department of Health estimates that unused medicines cost the NHS £300 million every year. A major component of this medicine waste is caused by patient non-adherence. This is a passive process in which the patient may be careless or forgetful about adhering to their prescription treatment regimen. With almost half of the adults in the UK taking prescriptions daily, it can be hard to keep track.
LIFEPILL is a unique pill management system, that assists patients with long term health conditions, and those who would benefit from an assistive technology. LIFEPILL integrates a physical "pulse-like" reminder to the user, via a smart wearable patch that can be placed anywhere on the skin just like a plaster. It is paired to a mobile application via Bluetooth and relays signals according to the patients pill regime.
